The team trains on a continuous basis for high-risk, complex, and excessively dangerous operations. The deployment of the SWAT team provides protection and safety for the public and law enforcement personnel while reducing the possibility of injury or death.

Oct 31, 2024 · The Florida SWAT Association has awarded Corporal Tyler Palmer, Deputy Stefano Gargano, Deputy Corey LaBrecque, and Deputy Matthew Green with the prestigious Award of Valor for their exceptional courage and heroic actions during the August 2, 2024 ambush in Eustis, where their fellow team member, MD Bradley Link, tragically lost his life.

The team is a member of the Statewide Region 5 Regional Anti-Terrorism Task Force (RATTF) and stands ready with other law enforcement teams to respond to critical incidents and acts of terrorism throughout the State of Florida.

SWAT conducts high-risk search warrants which often require forced entry and the use of dynamic tactics. They regularly encounter violent felons and recover weapons while serving the warrants. They also respond to "critical incidents" often involving violent and dangerous subjects.
