The current flag of France is called the French Tricolor or drapeau tricolore. It has three equal vertical bands of blue (hoist side), white, and red. The flag dates back to 1830, when King Louis-Philippe restored the three-colored banner after the July Revolution. The French Constitutions of 1946 and 1958 instituted the “blue, white, and red” on the national flag of France. According to Article 2 of the French Constitution dating from the 28th of September 1958, the national emblem of France is the Tricolour flag.
