THE TOWN OF NORTH GREENBUSH was formed February 23, 1855 when the Town of Greenbush was divided into the towns of East and North Greenbush. It is located along the Hudson River, extending east about five miles.

The Town of North Greenbush main offices and Court House are located at 2 Douglas Street in Wynantskill, New York. The offices provide the centralized coordination of all the activities, facilities and services provided by the town.

The Town of North Greenbush government is run by the Town Board as its overall executive, administrative and legislative body. North Greenbush’s charter provides for a Town Board of five members, elected at large.

The Town of North Greenbush is located in Rensselaer County, New York and has a total population of 13,929 (2020 Census). Located in the northwest part of the County, the town borders the City of Troy and the City of Rensselaer. The western town line is marked by the Hudson River with Albany County, New York on the opposite shore.
