A fellow member here gave me the idea to document this and I like the idea @Fish Fan. I have always wanted one for the past few years, and finally decided to get back in the hobby and give it a go.

Jun 16, 2017 · Update: I order a Peacock Mantis from Blue Zoo and got an absolutely beautiful Peacock Mantis. I ordered a "Clown Mantis Shrimp" from LiveAquaria, which was listed with the scientific name for the Peacock Mantis (Odontodactylus scyllarus), and I got a Purple Spotted Mantis (Gonodactylus smithii) from them.

Sep 14, 2024 · My wife feels bad for my mantis shrimp, and she's totally against giving it away or selling it. She defends my mantis shrimp when we argue, and it's turning into this weird thing where when I'm arguing with her, it's like me against them. I don't know why I'm posting. Oct 1, 2024 · I tried the bottle trap for about a month and gave up. I took a wet vac and taped a 1/2"ID tube to the vacuum attachment. Once I saw what hole the mantis shrimp is peeking out of, I then bait it out a bit with frozen shrimp on the long tweezers. Once it starts going after the bait, I suck it out. Was able to get 2 mantis shrimp this way.
