PARIS -Arab countries will for the first time condemn Hamas and call for its disarmament early next week at a United Nations ministerial event in New York, a move meant to lure more European countries to recognize Palestinian statehood,

The U.S. has withdrawn from Doha ceasefire talks after Hamas' response showed a "lack of desire" for an agreement. Israel also pulled negotiators amid escalating demands.

Hamas has welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron's announcement that France will recognize Palestine as a state, calling it a positive step toward achieving justice and self-determination for the Palestinian people.
