The American-made Patriot surface-to-air missile system has been a workhorse for Kyiv in defending against Russian attacks.

According to the outlet, Trump and his team are reluctant to provide large quantities of Patriot missiles, with the U.S. leader urging European allies to contribute more funds and materiel. Axios noted that Trump’s shift in stance became clearer during a July 4 phone call with Zelenskyy.

U.S. President Donald Trump said Ukraine would need Patriot missiles for its defenses, after speaking with President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Friday, and voiced frustration over Russian President Vladimir Putin's failure to end the fighting.
