The full moon in May will reach peak illumination at 12:56 p.m. on Monday, May 12, according to the Farmer's Almanac. A full moon can be seen clearly with the naked eye.
These particular meteors originate from Comet Thatcher, and during the peak are capable of creating surges of 100 meteors per hour.
