A 59-year-old man was fatally shot Sunday evening by state police after a manhunt in west Michigan, authorities said. Don Albert Stapel Jr. was sought in a wooded area near the 7500 block of Fox Road in Mears when he was found in an outbuilding, Michigan State Police Sixth District said.
Police believe the men knew each other and the shooting escalated from a dispute at a nearby club. No arrests have been made, and police did not identify either of the men involved. Anyone with information is asked to call the Tampa Police Department at 813-231-6130 or contact Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay at 800-873-8477.
