Las Vegas saw dust and wind storms that led to power outages on July 1. Clark County has opened up cooling centers and an emergency shelter.

A massive dust storm has descended on the Las Vegas area causing near zero visibility in some areas. The storm’s reported 60-plus-mile-an-hour winds had some startling effects, such as powerline poles toppling over vehicles.

Power was restored across the Las Vegas valley on Friday morning following a Tuesday dust storm with winds that downed more than 60 power poles.
