Federal employees who have been offered a buyout have begun receiving a copy of the contract they must sign in order to accept the offer.

The Trump administration has sent federal workers an updated sample contract with new terms for accepting a deferred resignation, the next move in an effort to reduce the size of the federal workforce by the end of the fiscal year in September.

The reported buyouts are for below the typical annual attrition rate for the federal government. More than 100,000 federal workers leave every year.
