A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the District of Columbia, parts of Maryland, and northern Virginia due to expected heavy snowfall. The warning will be in effect from 1 PM today until 7 AM tomorrow, with snow accumulations expected between 3 to 8 inches, according to the National Weather Service.

Winter storm warnings were in place across much of the Great Lakes region on Wednesday, with hazardous travel conditions likely.

Unplowed snow on neighborhood roads could cause some schools to delay opening Thursday, or even close. For many school systems, it will mark the third straight day of disruption. On Tuesday, many schools dismissed early or closed because of the incoming storm.
