Palpatine used every weapon at his disposal to manipulate Anakin Skywalker, but his lies about Sith Lord Darth Plagueis were incredibly twisted.

Gideon’s program wasn’t just about creating a Palpatine clone. It was also vital to making the Emperor’s proxy. A clone body is very different from creating new life from scratch, though.

And Palpatine’s death in Return of the Jedi is just about perfect: with Vader finally turning, choosing to save his son than follow Palpatine’s commands. It’s thrilling, dramatic, and emotional.

But as much as Palpatine's return raises the stakes for this sequel, we also can't help but be worried. Bringing back the Emperor could wind up doing more harm than good for the franchise.
