If the weekend series against the Cincinnati Reds didn’t already make it clear, the Mets will be looking for bullpen help at the trade deadline on July 31.
According to Jim Bowden of The Athletic, the Mets have been scouting Pittsburgh Pirates right-handers David Bednar and Dennis Santana, Cade Smith and Emmanuel Clase of the Cleveland Guardians, Baltimore Orioles relievers Gregory Soto and Félix Bautista, Washington Nationals closer Kyle Finnegan and Seth Halvorsen of the Colorado Rockies.
The Cincinnati Reds lost in the finale but became just the fourth team to beat the New York Mets in a series at Citi Field this year.
