A 56-year-old woman has been accused of holding her stepson, 32, captive inside their seemingly idyllic Connecticut home for two decades—during which time authorities say she subjected him to the "worst treatment of humanity" that they have ever witnessed.

The Connecticut woman accused of keeping her stepson locked in a room for 20 years is no longer in custody. Kimberly Sullivan, 56, posted the $300,000 bail set by a judge during an appearance at Waterbury Superior Court on Thursday morning, according to Connecticut court records and her lawyer Ioannis Kaloidis.
