The Gist: That man, Dr. Baek Gang-hyeok (Ju Ji-hoon), is speeding medical supplies towards a war-torn Middle Eastern city, which is actively being bombed. He speeds through as shells fall, avoiding most danger. Even when the bike gets hit, he manages to drag himself and the supplies to the hospital that sorely needs them.

The series follows the inner workings of Hankuk National University Hospital, with several A-listers rounding out the ensemble.

In the second last episode of The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, Korea's Hanbit military unit, stationed in South Sudan, clashes with one of the area's native militias. During the course of events, Captain Lee Hyeon-jong is gravely injured. With eleven physicians having been taken hostage by the militia, Hyeon-jong remains untreated in South Sudan.
