The San Francisco Giants have optioned Hayden Birdsong to Triple-A Sacramento after the right-hander failed to record an out in Monday night’s 9-5 loss to the Atlanta Braves.

Additionally, right-handed reliever Tristan Beck was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento after throwing 6 2/3 innings of relief in a four-day span. Right-handers Carson Seymour and Sean Hjelle were recalled from Sacramento in a corresponding move.

Instead, Birdsong hit his nadir. He faced six batters and recorded no outs. He threw 25 pitches but landed only six strikes. He surrendered one hit but allowed five runs due to four walks and a hit-by-pitch.
