March 21 The USDA released its weekly Egg Markets Overview report, which found wholesale egg prices continued to drop—though at a slower pace than the week before—falling to $3.27 per dozen, and it said consumers are “slowly beginning” to see prices drop and availability increase in stores.

That was Scott Gottlieb, the former head of the Food and Drug Administration, discussing the avian-flu crisis in the U.S. in a recent op-ed in STAT, a publication that specializes in health and medicine.

The Trump administration is importing hundreds of millions of eggs to help lower consumer prices and is expanding efforts to source eggs from more countries. Egg prices have already dropped more than 50% in the last month.
