Maine's rail history didn't start with Maine Central. The first line of railroad tracks in Maine was built by Bangor & Piscataquis Canal & Railroad Company, which connected Bangor to Old Town in 1836.

The crash occurred Feb. 10 at the railroad crossing on Main Street in Waterville, when a CSX Transportation train pushed the vehicle about 100 yards down the tracks.
