The ball landed with a thud on Branch McCracken Court — a fall from grace similar to that of Indiana men’s basketball, which squandered a 4-point lead in the final 30 seconds en route to a 79-78 loss to Maryland. Indiana (14-7, 5-5 Big Ten) has lost four of its last five games. Sunday’s defeat may sting more than the others.

The Hoosiers’ four losses this year were by an average of 21.5 points. In two true Big Ten road games, Indiana lost by a combined 42 points.

Mike Woodson and Indiana basketball have seemingly entered the end of an era through some terrible performances.

Woodson and Indiana found themselves on the wrong side of a 94-69 blowout loss to No. 19 Illinois on Tuesday night. It marked their second straight 25-point loss, and was their second-worst loss in program history. Only a 32-point loss to Wisconsin in 2010 was worse.
