The six-yurt system north of Idaho City that Hennessy developed for Idaho State Parks and Recreation was badly damaged by the 2016 Pioneer Fire, including the total loss of the Whispering Pines Yurt.

The Idaho City backcountry yurt system is back to full capacity with the addition of a new sixth yurt, the Hennessy Yurt. It replaces the Whispering Pines yurt that was lost in the Pioneer Fire.

The Idaho City yurts bring in about $73,000 per year for the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation. In 2014, the agency expects that number to increase by $10,000.
