A former teammate of Connor McDavid on the Edmonton Oilers made a powerful statement about his NHL career as he returned to Rogers Place.

McDavid, 28, is in his 10th season in the NHL after being drafted first overall back in 2015. The three-time Hart Memorial Trophy winner may be having a down season statistically, but his focus remains on winning a Stanley Cup—especially after falling one game short against the Florida Panthers last year.

Now admittedly that is not a solution without potential negative implications. If anyone else but one of them is the second line center, then that line may not be as strong. It is Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Adam Henrique, or some kind of newly acquired player-to-be-named-later. And on the latter suggestion, that would not come cheap or easy.

Another mark in the illustrious career of one of the best players to ever play the game. When he took the ice against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night, Edmonton Oilers centre Connor McDavid appeared in the 700th game of his NHL career.
