Apple and Google will become legally responsible for age verification of app store users in Utah, after the App

Gov. Spencer Cox (R) has signed the App Store Accountability Act, a law that will put the onus on app store operators like Apple and Google to verify users’ ages and get parents’ consent for their kids to download apps.

S.B. 142 puts the onus on app stores to conduct age assurance and represents a significant shift in how user ages are verified online.
