Geekie, who has scored the Bruins first goal in three straight, has seven goals in January and 14 in his last 28 games.

Geekie had one five-on-five goal when the Bruins dismissed coach Jim Montgomery. In 31 games under Sacco, Geekie has exploded for 12. Geekie has recorded his team-leading 13 five-on-five strikes, three more than Pastrnak, by getting open, going to the front of the net and reading off his linemates well.

The Avalanche, who have lost two straight, will be kicking off a three-game Eastern road trip that will also include visits to the Rangers and Islanders. For the season, Colorado is 28-19-2 (58 points), good for the West’s top wild card spot – five points clear of Calgary.
