CALGARY -- Jonathan Huberdeau and Nazem Kadri each had a goal and two assists to help the Calgary Flames to a 5-2 win against the Buffalo Sabres at Scotiabank Saddledome on Thursday.

Kadri snapped a four-game point drought with an impressive performance, as he played a pivotal role in the Flames' comeback. He tied the game midway through the second period with his 16th goal of the campaign,

The club traded defencemen Noah Hanifin, Chris Tanev and Nikita Zadorov, while forward Elias Lindholm was also sent packing. Calgary then dealt goaltender Jacob Markstrom to the New Jersey Devils in June after months of speculation.

Sabres coach Lindy Ruff might have been better off declining penalties Thursday night. Scoreless on a season-high six power-play chances, the Sabres gave up a pair of shorthanded goals in a 5-2 loss in Calgary against a Flames team that came in ranked 30th in the NHL on the penalty kill.
