President Donald Trump was caught by surprise last week by Israeli actions in Gaza and Syria, and in both instances phoned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to “rectify” the matter, according to the White House.
Observers around the world have grown weary of the images of starving children and desperate people gunned down while trying to collect bags of flour or boxes of food.
The United States withdrew from Gaza ceasefire negotiations on Thursday (local time), alongside Israel, after indirect talks failed to yield progress. Special envoy Steve Witkoff blamed Hamas for the collapse and said Washington would now “consider alternative options”.
