The Arizona Diamondbacks fell to the Pirates in Pittsburgh despite a strong outing by Merrill Kelly, who could be dealt before the trade deadline.

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Diamondbacks' "initial preference" was to trade either Gallen or Kelly but both players could end up experiencing a change of scenery "if the team receives strong enough offers."
