Gov. JB Pritzker signed into law on Friday a measure that will provide some Chicago police officers and firefighters with higher pensions, an adjustment that will eventually cost the city’s taxpayers billions of dollars.

The bill, SB1560, requires all school districts to provide screening in grades 3 through 12 at least once a year.

Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL) signed two pieces of legislation on gun safety into law on Monday. The Safe Gun Storage Act requires gun owners to keep their firearms in a locked box in situations or places where a minor could gain access to them.
