Kansas City Royals rookie right fielder Jac Caglianone had to leave Saturday's game against the Cleveland Guardians early.
Caglianone wowed Florida fans in his three seasons with the Gators as a two-way superstar. And, since he was selected with the No. 6 overall pick by the Royals in the 2024 MLB Draft, his bat has done the talking. He sped through the minors, making his big-league debut less than a year after his name was called.
The Royals placed Caglianone on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to a left hamstring strain.

Kansas City made an announcement about the rookie after he left Saturday’s game against the Cleveland Guardians early, via The Kansas City Star’s Jaylon Thompson. “Royals announce Jac Caglianone exited the game with left hamstring tightness,” he reported.
After grounding into a double play during the second inning, Caglianone was replaced on defense to begin the third. The severity of his injury remains unknown, though the Royals should offer more information once the 22-year-old's test results come back.
Caglianone, who starred at the University of Florida, was a known commodity among those in MLB Draft circles. He had the skill set to be selected as a two-way player in the 2024 MLB Draft. The Royals felt the same. KC drafted Caglianone sixth overall and set him on the fast track toward the big leagues.
