The acting head of the federal agency responsible for responding to disasters says he’s suspending payments sent to New York City to house migrants and that staff who made them will be held accountable.

The discovery of a $59 million FEMA payment to New York City for housing migrants comes as DOGE continues to find controversial uses of taxpayer dollars by government agencies.

New York City Comptroller Brad Lander is calling on city officials to step in after the federal government seized over $80 million he says was given to the city to house migrants.
