Hércules came off the bench and scored in the 70th minute to lift Fluminense past Al Hilal 2-1 in a Club World Cup quarterfinal match on Friday.

Martinelli put Fluminense in front in the 40th minute with a brilliant strike. His first touch took Gabriel Fuentes’s pass beyond a charging Al Hilal defender, and his second unleashed a ferocious left-footed shot that beat goalkeeper Yassine Bounou to the top right corner from about 15 yards (14 metres).

Substitute Hercules' heroics helped Fluminense secure their place in the semi-finals of the Club World Cup after beating Al-Hilal 2-1. The match began on a sombre note, with both teams observing a moment of silence in memory of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva.
