Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is coming in just a few months, and it's never too early to look forward to what the Star Wars galaxy will be bringing to our movie screens.

Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 19. Abrams returned to direct after helming 2015's The Force Awakens, although he wasn't the first choice of director.

The Star Wars Cast & Crew Episode IX is directed by J.J. Abrams, who's returning to wrap up a trilogy he began in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Abrams co-wrote the screenplay with Chris Terrio.

Episode IX will see the return of Rey (Daisy Ridley), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Finn (John Boyega), Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong'o), Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran) and many more fan favorites.

The calendar has turned to 2019 and that means we are now in the same calendar year that Star Wars: Episode IX releases and the Skywalker Saga comes to a close.

Fans continued to crowd McCormick Place Friday for the 2019 Star Wars Celebration, the same day that the new teaser trailer for "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" was released.
