José Caballero is set to become the first player in Tampa Bay Rays history to wear No. 77 after agreeing to give No. 7 to new free agent addition Ha-Seong Kim.

In the franchise’s 27-year history, the Rays have signed just one player — Wander Franco — to a contract with a total value of $125 million or more. The Dodgers have signed seven of those deals just in the last four years. In essence, the Dodgers have attempted to corner the market on hope.

Infielder Ha-Seong Kim and the Tampa Bay Rays have finalized a $29 million, two-year contract. Kim, who played his first four seasons in the majors with the San Diego Padres and won a Gold Glove in 2023,
