Mets right-hander Kodai Senga threw live batting practice Saturday, and the team was encouraged by his performance coming off an injury-shortened season.

The rotation needs to be prepared to carry the Mets' load and a healthy Senga can take a big part of it on his shoulders.

During a roughly 10-minute chat with reporters on Tuesday, the day before the first official workout for pitchers and catchers at Clover Park, Kodai Senga referenced his physical condition in almost every answer.

Kodai Senga spent part of his winter at home in Japan in rehab mode, with the goal of arriving at spring training ready for a normal buildup toward the season. On that count, the Mets right-hander is confident he succeeded.
