At first, “A Working Man” unfolds like a family drama. Levon Cade (Jason Statham) is a widowed father who sleeps in his car and works as a foreman for Chicago-based Garcia Construction. His young daughter, Merry (Isla Gie), lives with her maternal grandfather, a bitter, wealthy man who wants to wrest custody from Levon.

Things aren't going very well for Jason Statham's character in the actor's new action vehicle. He's sleeping in his car, desperately in need of funds for the legal fees necessary to secure custody of his young daughter (Isla Gie) from her grandfather.

Jason Statham plays a sort of hero-laying-low in director and co-writer David Ayer’s latest collaboration, “A Working Man,” with the addition of a co-writer who knows a thing or two about lone-wolf underdogs — Sylvester Stallone.
