By contrast, the 17.3-inch model still feels bulky by virtue of that massive display. The x15 R2 has hit its Goldilocks zone, one-upping even the best Alienware laptops before it.

Alienware has AMD options across both the 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch models, but only the Intel configurations are arriving on February 1. Alienware says the AMD models will be available in the spring.

But part of what you're paying for here is the form factor. At 2.17 x 7.87 x 7.87 inches (H x W x D), the Alpha R2 is a fairly impressive work of engineering, one with multiple applications.
