WMU is heading to the Frozen Four for the first time in the program's history. The Frozen Four is scheduled for April 10 and 12 in St. Louis.

Tim Washe re-directed a shot from Brian Kramer past UMass goaltender Michael Hrabal (28 saves) for the go-ahead tally at 2:47 of the third period.

Western Michigan scored its only two goals during a 5-minute power play that crossed from the second into the period. They proved too much for the UMass hockey team to overcome. The Minutemen fell to the Broncos, 2-1, in the NCAA Regional in Fargo, North Dakota.
