After a win for Michigan State basketball over Rutgers in the hallowed grounds of Madison Square Garden, the red-hot Spartans continued their surge up the polls, moving up in the Coaches Poll to No. 7. This is the same spot as the AP Poll has them listed as well.

The Michigan State women’s team (17-3, 7-2) jumped five spots to No. 16 in the new rankings after a pair of wins last week – 82-61 against Penn State and 88-58 at Michigan on Saturday. The Spartans have won five straight and are just one spot below their highest ranking of the season.

Michigan State ascended to its highest ranking in the AP Top 25 men's college basketball poll this season on Monday with a move up one spot to No. 7 after another perfect week in Big Ten play. The Spartans went 2-0 on the week with wins over Illinois and Rutgers to improve to 8-0 in conference play.
