Real Betis is a Spanish professional football club in Seville, Andalusia, Spain and is in La Liga. COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Crew are closing in on a deal with Real Betis to transfer forward Cucho Hernández, sources confirmed to 10TV's Adam King on Monday.

Hernandez joined the Crew in 2022 from England's Watford F.C. for a transfer fee of more than $10 million. He signed for more than $2.88 million, according to the MLS Player Association salary guide, with a contract that was to run through 2025.

A source has told NBC4 that striker Cucho Hernandez is leaving central Ohio to sign with Spanish club Real Betis, who currently sit in ninth place in La Liga. The 25-year-old from Colombia became the Crew’s record signing in 2022 when the club acquired him for a $10 million transfer fee.

Hernandez moves to Betis for a fee of €13m. The 25 year-old former Huesca attacker has signed a deal with Betis to 2030. With Columbus Crew last MLS season, he played 41 matches in all competitions, scoring 25 goals and distributing 14 assists. Along with Huesca, Hernandez also played for Mallorca and Getafe in Spain and Watford in England.
