North Macedonia is mourning the victims of a catastrophic nightclub fire that killed 59 people, mostly teenagers and young adults, and triggered nationwide protests against safety failures

Thirteen people including a former government minister were remanded in custody for 30 days in North Macedonia on Friday over a nightclub blaze, believed to have been caused by pyrotechnics, that killed 59 people including six minors.

Thousands of mourners have flocked to funerals in North Macedonia for the dozens of victims of last weekend’s devastating nightclub fire, bringing flowers and photographs and some of them collapsing in grief.
