U.S. President Donald Trump has invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the White House next week, a White House official said, hours after a U.S. military plane departed to return deported migrants to the country.

PM Modi is expected to arrive in Washington DC on the evening of February 12 after wrapping up his visit to France, and will stay in the US capital till Feb 14.

The Pentagon has also begun facilitating mass deportations, using military planes to transport over 5,000 migrants detained in Texas, & San Diego, California.

It would be PM Modi's first bilateral visit to the US after Trump assumed the presidency for a second term on January 20 following his stunning electoral victory in November 2024.

Discussion between PM Modi and President Trump could also involve trade tariffs which the US president has threatened in the past with India's high tariffs on US products.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet US President Donald Trump on February 13, sources told India Today TV. This would be PM's first meeting with Trump since the US inauguration on January 20.

The invitation comes days after a recent phone call between the two leaders on January 27, where both the leaders emphasised their commitment to advance the US-India strategic partnership and the Indo-Pacific Quad partnership.
