Michigan could see snow, ice, thunderstorms and tornadoes, just days after an ice storm knocked out power to thousands of people in the state.
A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 9:12 p.m. EDT for strong thunderstorms until 9:45 p.m. EDT for Livingston, Washtenaw and Lenawee counties.
State Senator John Damoose, R-Harbor Springs, provided a lengthy update on the progress being made in several northern Michigan counties on social media. If Upper Peninsula residents are in critical need of resources, residents should contact their county’s sheriff’s office, Damoose said.
Three people were killed in a crash near Climax, in Kalamazoo County, while roughly 183,000 customers are without power in Michigan.
The main issue, according to Andy Sullivan, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service office in Gaylord, is going to be wind gusts forecast to be 30 mph or stronger.
