Standard Chartered has appointed Maria Ramos as its new chair in what is expected to be the first part of a leadership transition at the London-based bank.

Ramos joined the board of Standard Chartered as an independent non-executive director in January 2021, and she was appointed chair of the board risk committee and senior independent director in 2022.
