General Motors says that it plans to hire an unspecified number of temporary employees at its Fort Wayne, Indiana, assembly plant in the wake of a U.S. tariff on imported vehicles that took effect this week.
General Motors on Thursday confirmed it plans to add hundreds of jobs in Allen County, scaling up staffing – at least temporarily – to keep pace with production needs.
The Fort Wayne plant produces the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks, with about 1,300 units produced each day, according to the automaker’s website.
