A Russian drone strike on Ukraine's second-largest city killed two people and wounded 35 late on Saturday, officials said, as President Volodymyr Zelenskiy urged Kyiv's partners to respond to such attacks while seeking peace in the three-year-old war.

The assault underscored the deep mistrust between Russia and Ukraine as U.S.-mediated talks about a partial cease-fire began in Saudi Arabia.

The attack on the capital occurred ahead of expected ceasefire negotiations in Saudi Arabia in which Ukraine and Russia are expected to hold indirect U.S.-mediated talks.
