The Democratic National Committee on Saturday picked a new chair to take the helm of a national party facing major challenges, marking its first significant decision since the party’s thumping by Donald Trump in November.

Former Gov. Martin O’Malley lost the election for Democratic National Committee chair, as the party seeks a new path forward.

The Minnesota Democratic leader defeated Ben Wikler, chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley.
