Fire type: Wildfire Fire name: Claro Fire Claro Fire initially started 3:52 p.m. June 12 in San Diego County. It has burned 45 acres after being active for 30 hours.
San Marcos Fire, Carlsbad Fire, Cal Fire San Diego, and Encinitas Fire are on scene assisting the City of Carlsbad with the fire. Carlsbad PD is assisting with evacuations.

The fire, dubbed the “Claro Fire,” was reported around 2:44 p.m. in the area of Corte Claro and Paseo Encino, sending a large plume of smoke into the air, as captured by one nearby resident.

The fire has since burned more than 40 acres, prompting evacuation warnings and road closures in the area. Claro Fire broke out near Carlsbad and San Marcos on Thursday.
